Le Chiffonnier
This rare spelter Amieux Frères "Encore Une qu'à la Devise" figurine is a quintessential piece of French advertising history from the late 19th to early 20th century. Manufactured in Nantes, France, by the food-preserving giant Amieux Frères, the statue is typically crafted from regulus, a bronze-like alloy.
The subject, a weary but determined ragpicker (chiffonnier) with a basket and lantern, was originally designed by the celebrated poster artist Jossot. The inscription on the base, "One more for the motto," highlights the ragpicker's diligent search for quality.
