Crafted circa 1850, this exquisite clock is the work of master watchmaker Carl Balzarek of Müglitz, today known as Mohelnice in the Czech Republic. This timepiece features a distinguished portico architectural style, uniquely supported by two silver-plated and gilt brass columns and topped with a delicate flower basket finial .
The movement sits atop a ebonized wood base decorated with elaborate gilt-bronze openwork friezes and features a crisp white enamel dial with a decorative sunburst pendulum.. Technically advanced, it contains a spring-driven movement with a Viennese 4/4 hour striking mechanism and repeater function. Utilizing a silk-thread suspension, this clock epitomizes the sophisticated Biedermeier-era craftsmanship of Central Europe.
