"California" Clock
The very rare Ansonia "California" model is an exquisite Victorian-style figural mantel clock manufactured by the Ansonia Clock Co. in New York around 1892.
Crafted from silver-finished spelter (white metal) that has aged to a sophisticated gunmetal tone, the clock showcases neoclassical artistry. Its ornate case features striking winged lions (sphinxes or griffins) flanking the dial and a detailed cherub figure at the base. Beneath its decorative exterior lies a high-quality 8-day, time and strike spring brass movement, making it a masterpiece of both American horological engineering and late 19th-century aesthetic design.
Measurements are approximate: H21" x W20" x D9"
Naples Gallery Clock No: 0001
