French Emu Clock
Manufactured in France during the late 19th century (circa 1870–1900), this Louis XV style mantel clock is typically attributed to the firm Samson, Edmé et Cie, renowned for high-quality porcelain reproductions.
The timepiece is set within a magnificent ormolu (gilt-bronze) framework, featuring intricate scrolling vines and hand-painted porcelain flowers. The bird stands in a dynamic pose atop a rococo-style base, featuring polychrome enamel faience (tin-glazed pottery) and epitomizing the luxurious floral naturalism of 19th-century European decorative arts.
