French Temple Clock
Originating from France and likely manufactured in the mid-to-late 19th century (circa 1860–1880), this antique French mantel clock features an 8-day spring-driven movement signed by the celebrated makers Japy Frères. Its highly ornate bronze case is characterized by a unique pagoda-style silhouette, a figural top, and intricate cast brass mounts with turned finials.
The clock face consists of a copper-toned dial with incised Roman numerals and fancy gilt hands. This mechanical treasure strikes on the half-hour, masterfully combining sculptural beauty with historic European horological precision.
