C. Chinnocks Clock
This Victorian cast iron mantel clock was manufactured in the United States around the mid-1850s by C. Chinnocks. Patent dates for similar models, such as October 17, 1854, confirm its mid-19th-century origin.
The clock features an ornate Gothic Revival style case made of cast iron, decorated with delicate hand-painted floral motifs and a prominent American shield at the top. It typically houses an 8-day brass time and strike movement.
This piece exemplifies Victorian decorative arts, combining functional timekeeping with elaborate, patriotic, and architectural metalwork.
