Marble Portico Clock
Exquisite French 19th-century Louis XVI style portico clock, originating from France, is a masterwork of neoclassical design. Often featuring precision movements by celebrated makers like AD Mougin or Planchon of Paris, this type of timepiece was typically manufactured between 1880 and 1900.
The clock is constructed from white Carrara marble and adorned with finely cast ormolu (gilt bronze) ornaments, including fluted columns and a figure of Cupid perched at the top. It features a distinctive radiant sun pendulum, a motif associated with the "Sun King," and an enameled porcelain dial decorated with hand-painted floral garlands.
