"Sitting Lady" Radio
The Radio Ceramics of California RC-400, often called the "Sitting Lady," is a charming fusion of mid-century technology and decorative art. Manufactured in the 1960s by Shirasuna Denki Mfg. Co. Ltd. in Nagoya, Japan, this 7-transistor AM radio was designed for the American market.
The figurine features an elegant Victorian-style woman dressed in a flowing blue ceramic gown accented with delicate pink bows. She sits gracefully in a green armchair, holding a fan. The radio’s internal mechanics are cleverly concealed beneath her skirt, blending functional electronics with a classic aesthetic perfect for a vintage vanity or mantle.
