Enthroned Madonna
The painting titled "Enthroned Madonnna surrounded by Saints" is an artwork by DE Tomek "after" P.P. Rubens, the renowned Flemish artist. In this splendid altarpiece, we see Joseph and Mary above, occupying a central position. The Christ Child on Mary's lap is giving a ring to the kneeling St. Catherine. On the steps leading to the throne, 13 saints stand or kneel in various groups which is a common theme in Christian art known as a "sacred conversation".
The signature on the bottom right reads "See P.P. Rubens pinx DE Tomek". --- "P.P. Rubens" refers to the famous artist Peter Paul Rubens and "Pinx" is an abbreviation for the Latin pinxit, meaning "painted it". "DE Tomek" is the artist's signature in the year 1911.
